Winchester's Bonnie Blue is a finalist in Virginia Culinary Challenge by Virginia.org . The official travel blog of the state of Virginia announced the fifteen top bakeries selected for the culinary challenge. Online voting at http://www.virginia.org/culinarychallenge/ is underway until Thursday April 14, 2016 at 5PM
Bonnie Blue Southern Market & Bakery features a scratch bakery located in a restored 1921 Esso station at 334 West Boscawen Street in Winchester, Virginia. Bonnie Blue features traditional Virginia baked goods using local apples, fruit, and berries from the Shenandoah Valley.
Led by chef Brian Pellatt, the bakery crew is know for their pecan sticky buns, dessert bars and sweet locally inspired treats. "We are proud of the local community for supporting our bakery, the statewide honor is a reflection of our crew's commitment to being the best bake shop in Virginia", stated Pellatt. "We hope our bakery fans will vote for Bonnie Blue"
Since opening in September of 2012 Bonnie Blue has grown to include a new dining room with expanded seating and has been featured in the Washington Post as "Road Trip Inspiration ".

On September 20, 2014, one of Virginia’s largest Superfund Sites will be returned by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to the Economic Development Authority. After 25 years, the site that once housed the American Viscose Corporation and Avtex Fibers; that was added to the National Priorities List for Superfund Sites in 1986; and that was abruptly shut down by Virginia’s Attorney General Mary Sue Terry and the state Water Control Board in 1989 for ongoing pollutant violations will be returned to its community in Front Royal, Virginia. The Economic Development Authority now prepares its marketing and redevelopment initiative.
